Our client is seeking a General Manager, Own Store Network to drive the strategic growth and operational success of its company-owned stores. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of a well-established, independent retail business while working closely with executive leadership to enhance performance, profitability, and customer experience.


The Role

As General Manager, Own Store Network, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to drive growth, efficiency, and profitability across the company store portfolio. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a critical role in shaping the organisation’s future through strong leadership, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance performance across company stores, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Drive sales, cost management, and EBIT growth while optimising operational efficiency.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Be involved in and help drive store acquisitions, divestments, and expansion plans in collaboration with the executive leadership team, Strategic Growth and Network Transformation team.
  • Manage financial performance, budgeting, and forecasting to maximise profitability and return on investment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, operational standards, and company policies.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including independent store owners, suppliers, and joint venture partners.


About You

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader with a proven track record in managing multi-site retail operations. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive business growth in a competitive market.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within Wholesale, Trade Distribution and Retail.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, including P&L responsibility, cost control, and revenue optimisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic growth initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across different business functions.
  • Experience in acquisitions, divestments, and business integration.
  • A results-driven mindset with a focus on operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
